FAQ

Questions San Diego business owners ask before hiring a web developer

Business websites cost $3,000 to $8,000 and launch in 2 to 4 weeks. Larger builds run $8,000 to $25,000 and up. Every site includes SEO, schema markup and a linked Google Business Profile, and you own the code. The answers below cover cost, timelines, SEO, platforms, ownership and hosting.

Getting started

I need a website for my business. What do I do first?

List the services you want customers to find you for and the cities you want leads from, gather your logo and any photos, and book a free 20-minute call. We turn that into a written quote with a launch date within one business day. You do not need to know anything technical.

Can you build me a website, or do I have to use a website builder?

We build it for you. You describe the business; we design it, write the pages if you want us to, code it by hand, set up the forms and the Google Business Profile, and launch it. No DIY builder, no templates.

What is a custom website, and why does it cost more than Wix?

A custom website is designed and coded for your business rather than assembled from a template. It loads in under a second, ranks better because the structure and schema are built for search, and belongs to you. Wix costs less up front and more over three years in speed, limits and subscription fees.

Can you redo my old website?

Yes. We rebuild old, slow or dated sites as custom code, keep every URL that ranks or redirect it, migrate the content, and launch on your existing domain with no downtime. Redesigns cost $3,000 to $12,000.

My web designer disappeared. Can you take over my website?

Yes. We recover access to the domain and hosting where possible, audit what exists, and either take over maintenance on a care plan ($150 to $500 per month) or rebuild the site if it is on a platform that is holding you back.

Can you fix my website if it is broken or hacked?

Usually. Call us with the domain and what is happening. For broken or hacked WordPress sites the fastest fix is often a clean rebuild as static code, which removes the plugin attack surface for good.

What should a small business website include?

A page for each service, clear pricing or ranges, a quote form and phone number on every page, reviews, your service area, hours and location, fast load on phones, and schema markup plus a linked Google Business Profile so Google understands who you are and where you work.

Is it worth paying for a custom website?

If the website is supposed to bring you customers, yes. The difference shows up in rankings, speed and ownership. If you only need a placeholder for a year, a DIY builder is fine and we will tell you so on the call.

Cost and payment

How much does a website cost in San Diego?

Most business websites we build in San Diego cost $3,000 to $8,000. Larger builds with many city pages, online stores or booking systems run $8,000 to $25,000 and up. Web apps are quoted after a short discovery sprint. Every project gets a written quote after a free 20-minute call.

What moves a project up or down within a range?

Page count, custom features such as booking or e-commerce, whether we write the content, photography, and how many cities or services need their own page. A 6-page site with your existing content sits at the low end. A 15-page site with content writing and city pages sits at the high end.

How do payments work?

50% to start and 50% at launch for business websites. Larger builds are split into milestones. We accept bank transfer and card.

Are there ongoing costs?

Only what you choose. Hosting and care plans are $150 to $500 per month. There are no plugin licenses or theme fees, and you can host the site yourself if you prefer.

Do you offer payment plans?

For larger builds we split payments into milestones tied to deliverables. Ask on the call and we will put it in the quote.

Process and timelines

How long does it take to build a website?

A business website usually takes 2 to 4 weeks from kickoff to launch. Larger sites with 10 or more city pages or e-commerce take 4 to 8 weeks. You see the design before we write code, and you get a launch date at the start of the project.

What is included in a business website?

Custom design, 5 to 15 pages, mobile-first build, contact and quote forms, click-to-call, on-page SEO, schema markup, Google Business Profile setup and analytics. Content writing and photography can be added.

What technology do you use?

Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS for websites; Node.js, PostgreSQL, Prisma and Stripe for web apps; Vercel for hosting. The same stack we used to build WPro.AI.

SEO and getting found

Do you do SEO?

Yes. Every site we build includes on-page SEO, structured data, fast load times and a Google Business Profile setup. For businesses that want to rank across San Diego County, our Local SEO Websites add a page for every service and city you serve, plus tracking so you can see the leads.

What is a local SEO website?

A site built to rank for the searches your customers type: one page per service, one page per city you serve, cost guides and FAQs with structured data, plus tracking for calls and forms. It is the right choice for service businesses that want leads from more than one city.

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

Not when it is done properly. We map every existing URL to its new page or redirect, keep your titles and content that already rank, and submit the new sitemap to Google on launch day. Most clients see rankings improve because the new site is faster.

Which areas do you serve?

We are based in North San Diego County and work with businesses across the county: San Diego, La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Poway, Chula Vista, El Cajon and Temecula. We meet in person locally and work remotely with clients across California.

Platforms, ownership and hosting

Why not WordPress, Wix or Squarespace?

Page builders load slowly, need constant plugin updates and are the most common target for hacks. We write the code by hand with Next.js, so your site loads in under a second, has nothing to patch, and you own every file. If you already have a WordPress site, we can migrate it without losing rankings.

Do I own my website?

Yes. You own the domain, the code and the content. We hand over the full source and hosting access at launch. You can keep us on a care plan or take it anywhere.

What about hosting and maintenance?

Hosting and care plans run $150 to $500 per month and include hosting, uptime monitoring, security, content updates and a monthly performance report. There are no required plugins or licenses.

Can you fix my existing website?

Yes. We handle redesigns, speed fixes, mobile problems and migrations from WordPress, Wix and Squarespace. We keep every URL that ranks or redirect it properly, so you keep your Google history.

Do you work with businesses outside San Diego?

Yes. Most of our clients are in San Diego County, and we also work remotely with businesses across Southern California and the rest of the state.
